The more astute readers (assuming there are any) may have noticed that I drove to the bonfire site mentioned in the last blog. In other words, I didn't walk - and the reason for this is that the previously mentioned waterproof walking boots have proved to be a very good example of what happens when you leave such items in the garage for more than a few years without touching them.
Serves me right, really......
