My name's Brian Cole; and I'm an ancient, but modern, former nuclear test veteran and Jack of all Trades; but in particular, a driving instructor and taxi proprietor, golf club administrator, publican, and bus station manager. This web-site was originally created for ex-pat, ex-military, friends who liked to be reminded of places they had known and loved; so, I took photographs whilst I drove around the UK as part-time roadie for my singer-songwriter son; or delivering PSV vehicles (now edited and condensed into a separate blog). Eventually, conscious of how I would have liked to know more about my own parent's lives (but didn't ask), I have added other features which might be of interest to my own family one day. However, much of the content, such as the Christmas Island journal, the Trans-USA and the Patagonia and Peru journals and, to some extent, the Model Auto-biography are quite detailed accounts of life and travel experiences. Most of the rest consists of photograph-albums and blogs about issues which have caught my attention over the years.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Those who were around in the eighties might remember the British Telecom series of TV adverts in which the well-known actress, Maureen Lipman, played a Jewish grandmother called Beatie (get it? BT). In one, she is talking to her grandson who was bemoaning the fact that he hadn't done very well in his school examinations. He had, however, passed in Sociology. ''You got an OLOGY!'' Beatie exclaimed. ''That's not a failure''. At that time, I happened to be a bus driver and the word omnibusologist formed in my mind; and I have used it as a username ever since.
