There used to be a time when "Countdown" was all about letters and numbers. In recent years, however, figures of a different sort have become a feature of the show. For example, although she has now been kicked into touch (as the saying goes) Carol Vordeman (see below) has become better known for her figure than her ability with figures.............
For one reason or another, I hadn't watched the programme for quite a while and I must say that it's difficult not to be impressed by the way Channel 4 seemed to have made sure that her successor - a rather charming Miss Rachel Riley (see below) - has a similar background (if you know what I mean; nod, nod, wink, wink).........
